About

Engineering that outlives the sprint it was written in

A short history of how I got here, what I have shipped, and the tools I reach for most often.

Profile

Hello, I'm Sameed

I am a software engineer based in Lahore, working with distributed teams across Europe and North America. My work sits where product requirements meet infrastructure reality.

I started out writing PHP for a small agency and quickly learned that the hardest part of software is rarely the syntax — it is the missing context, the undocumented assumption, the query nobody profiled. That lesson shaped how I work today: ask questions early, write things down, measure before optimising.

Since then I have led a payments ledger rewrite, designed a telemetry pipeline handling tens of thousands of events per second, and helped a healthcare team reach accessibility compliance without slowing delivery. I enjoy the unglamorous parts: schema migrations, backfill scripts, on-call rotations that get quieter every month.

Outside of work I mentor junior engineers through a local developer circle, write occasional notes on system design, and spend far too long tuning my terminal setup.

Experience

Career timeline

Roles where I owned systems end to end, from design through on-call.

  1. 2023 — Present

Lead Backend Engineer · Northbridge Payments

Own the ledger, settlement and payout services. Led the migration from a monolithic Rails app to Go services on Kubernetes without a single customer-facing outage.

  2. 2021 — 2023

Senior Software Engineer · Atlas Logistics Cloud

Built the telemetry ingestion platform and the internal dispatch tooling around it. Introduced SLO-based alerting that cut pager noise by 70%.

  3. 2019 — 2021

Full-Stack Engineer · Cedar Health Systems

Delivered patient portal features across Django and React, with a focus on accessibility, audit trails and HIPAA-aligned data handling.

  4. 2018 — 2019

    Software Engineer · Bluewave Studio

Agency work: shipped a dozen client web applications and learned to scope, estimate and communicate with non-technical stakeholders.
